It seems the GT and non-GT Mazda 3's are wired differently. The GT models have the parking lights and DRLs linked. I found someone on YouTube who got Ebay headlights for his iTouring/Sport (Halogen) Mazda 3. He claims that his LED strips are always on and that he pulled a fuse to get it to work, which doesn't make sense.
thanks dave, Update on taillights not working: So I had the same situation as Dave: all lights on the 1991 Ranger working except the taillights and license lights. Checked bulbs and both were good. The taillights are on the same fuse as headlights, meaning there is no separate fuse to check. If you have headlights you should have taillights.
Thank you for the donation. When light switch is turned on, the Red/Black wire must be HOT, if not the switch is faulty. If Red/Black is HOT, check fuse # 4 and # 8 ( 10 A fuse in underdash fuse box). At the headlights if there is voltage to the White/Light Green and Dark Green/Light Green wires, the bulbs are bad.
Purchased a 2010 Mazda 3 off a dealers lot 1. 5 weeks ago. The following day while driving the left head light was out. There was condensate in the lens. The car has hid lights. To access the bulb the car bumper etc. Had to be removed. Local shop replaced both bulbs and ballast. Cost $1,200 +.
The contacts are different on different bulbs. If the bulb is right, check the contacts with a mutlimeter and see if you have power on that. The contact inside the connector is positive, use some bare metal as ground. If you do not have power on the connector, check the harness to make sure it is not severed somewhere.
