UK/Ireland Location: Fife. Posted February 8, 2014. the most common problem found is the wiring connector at the throttle body on the engine. The wires break inside the connector so the wirig at both the pedal and throttle body will need checked. Inspect all related throttle body terminals for a loose wiring.
It is definitely not normal to lose coolant. And, as far as I have seen, head gaskets are not a common fault on Ford diesels, at least not if the right antifreeze is used. It must be going somewhere. Coolant tank (reservoir) leaks quite common on the Focus. Cardboard under the tank can test for this.
Car is a 56 plate Ford Focus TDCi I need to double check (bit of a car numpty), but I think we have the 1.8TDCi (cyclinder capacity is 1753). The Haynes Manual says the 1.6 and 2.0 have a particulate filter, but the 1.8 doesn't.
